Description
Gembrook, a creation by Potter Sam Gordon, pays homage to his Äòoff grid’ lifestyle in the outskirts of Australia. Embodying the organic nature of clay with its unique craftsmanship, Gembrook replicates the look and feel of hand-thrown stoneware and is a remarkable fusion of form & function, featuring a fully vitrified clay body and decorated with a reactive glaze. Consisting of two colors, creamy white and deep gray, each item is decorated with a sheer white, hand-applied glaze, allowing the beauty of the clay to show through. The bottom of each piece and small portions of the top are unglazed, to authenticate where the potter would hold each piece while glazing, resulting in double dips, drips, and exposed clay lending to its hand-thrown authenticity. Meanwhile, a handful of pieces flaunt a distinct indent, which mimics the thumb mark of the potter and creates a conversation piece for diners.
